The Youth Eco-Challenge - A VCAL resource
The Youth Eco-Challenge is a complete package for running an experiential sustainability subject within the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.
It is available for download free of charge and includes session plans, activities, handouts, worksheets and other resources. It can be taught over one semester and engages students in sustainability, while meeting the learning outcomes of the Personal Development Strand, as well as some of the Numeracy and Literacy learning outcomes. It will also be available as a full year subject in the future.
The Youth Eco-Challenge is designed as a complete package, but you can also pick and choose units and activities, and download bits as you need them. Section A is a series of overview documents to get you started. The classes, and all the resources you need to run them, are divided across sections B, C and D. This curriculum was developed out of the Youth Eco-Challenge project we ran from 2006 to 2010. It was part of our Regional Sustainable Living Program, and we ran it through schools and with other young people in the community.
