We are mobilising 5 million people
to take Green Action

Thanks Victoria!

Well that was amazing!

Thanks so much for helping make the Melbourne Walk against Warming one of the biggest protests ever anywhere!

Police estimate was 40,000 people, but we reckon it was closer to 50,000. Either way that’s a pretty big number.

Take note politicians- the community is ready for action on climate change!

5 deniers wore a poster

A poster of someone with their head up their proverbial.... I thought that was really funny and very fitting of their stance. I read somewhere that when they show us their peer reviewed science the I'll be prepared to consider what they have to say...

I'm still waiting....

re: who counted the heads?

I think it's usually estimated at about 10,000 people per city block but I'm not too sure about that... I was there and I'm extremely sure that less than a quarter of the people marching were involved in the sign on the bridge. For a start there wasn't room for everyone but not everyone knew what was going on and the only people that really funnelled on to the bridge were those who already knew about the sign and were determined to be a part of it

That video was fantastic

Thank you so much to the person who made the Walk Against Warming 2009 video, it expressed everything so beautifully.  I hope it inspires more and more people to raise their voice to safeguard our environment.

Thank you

who counted heads

I was there with my husband and two children and some other families from our school with children. We all left at the bridge as we realised not everyone could fit on the bridge and we didn't want our children squashed! Obviously if someone is questioning the numbers they weren't there - very heartening to see so many people participating positively and peacefully!

A day to affirm hope

When several recent polls have claimed a slip in public concern about climate change, it's great to see such a great response from a poll that required people to stand up and take action - and 40,000+ did just that.

When I arrived at the State Library, my immediate thought was, 'This is big!" and it was heartening to look around and see so may people who fully realise the urgency of climate change. They also realise that the Rudd Government is closer to the sceptics than a safe climate policy, and that we all must take action to ensure Australia leads the world instead of protecting the narrow interests of the big polluters.

Congratulations to everyone involved. Events like this remind us that hope, like our clean energy sources, is indeed renewable.

Cheers, Darren Lewin-Hill

who counted the heads?

I enjoyed the day but who did the counting. I've seen the hi-res pics of the sign and my estimate is 5000 people on the bridge. If there was 40,000 in the march then where did the other 35,000 go before the bridge?

Did anyone see the 5 deniers the crowd?

A sea of Victorians wanting real and urgent action on climate change dwarfed the five climate deniers that came to the Melbourne Walk Against Warming. No wonder they stayed petty quiet. Five people out of 40,000, probably mates of Abbots.
Well done to everyone willing to speak up for a safe climate. Keep it up.

They looked pretty lonely!

Yeh - I spoke with them briefly. They looked pretty lonely and disappeared quickly! :D
