Improving public transport
Victorians need a public transport system that is fast, frequent, reliable, safe, accessible, connected and that gets you where you need to go.
We need to re-focus Victoria’s transport budget onto a public transport system that is:
- Fast – separate cars from trams and buses and giving public transport priority on busy roads. More trams, trains and buses and improve infrastructure.
- Frequent – every 10 minutes 6am to midnight.
- Reliable – no cancellations and extra train tracks.
- Safe – staff at all train stations; well lit tram stops, bus and train stations; upgrade bus and tram stops and improve pedestrian & cycling links.
- Accessible – affordable, low floor trams and buses & easy to read timetables at all stops and stations.
- Connected – quality interchanges between services; real time information at all stops and stations and better links between public and active (cycling and walking) transport.
- Gets you where you need to go – we need a public transport system that is accessible across our cities, with a particular focus on new growth areas and those places currently lacking quality public transport services.
