The case against a further coal allocation

Environment Victoria understands that State Cabinet is currently considering two proposals:
a) An application by Exergen Pty Ltd for a coal allocation to develop a project to process and export 12 million tonnes of coal per year in its initial phase.
b) A broader proposal to undertake a tender process to allocate the remaining 13 billion tonnes of unallocated economic coal reserves in the Latrobe Valley

Delve further into this issue by reading a briefing by Environment Victoria drawing heavily on the Firecone report to the Department of Primary Industries obtained via an FoI request.
