Our comments on the Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project

Northern Victoria has been greatly affected by the development of irrigation. Some wetlands and creeks are now dependent on the irrigation system for their water supply and may be affected by the massive irrigation modernisation project that is now underway. The modernisation project has been referred to Minister Peter Garrett for assessment under the EPBC Act and he needs to make sure that the region’s wetlands are properly protected.
