Locals in the Federal Seat of Deakin say five per cent is not enough
On 20 April 2009, over 40 people from the local community in the Federal Seat of Deakin gathered outside the office of their local Labor MP, Mr. Mike Symon, to call for real and urgent action on climate change.
Supported by Environment Victoria and the Maroondah Climate Action Group, protesters called for a dramatic improvement to the 5-15 per cent emissions reduction target the Australian Government was proposing at the time. They also called for the Government to go back to the drawing board to fix the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).
